Choose your Allegiance
Pick the side your character stands with and let that choice shape their place in the world.
Allegiance gives each character a clear faction identity. Choose Alliance or Horde when you are ready, and that choice is remembered for the character instead of being just another temporary setting. It gives your character a side to represent while the Territory Map shows how players are influencing the wider world.
Follow this flow
- 1
Create or select the character you want to play and make sure you are choosing the identity for the correct character.
- 2
Choose Alliance or Horde when the Allegiance choice is presented; the selection belongs to that character.
- 3
Use the chosen side as your guide for faction cities, reputation routes, travel decisions, and the groups you want to support.
- 4
Open the Territory Map and select regions to see where Alliance and Horde influence is being tracked.
- 5
Use the map as a planning tool: look for contested or changing regions, then decide whether your next questing, PvP, or travel route supports the side you chose.
Good to know
- Allegiance is remembered for the individual character.
- Every race can choose either side, so your Worgen, Goblin, or Pandaren is not forced into a faction by race.
- Territory control is a separate world activity; choosing an Allegiance does not instantly claim a region.
- The Territory Map is the deeper view for current regional influence and is the best place to check before planning faction-focused activity.
