Old World Flying
Once you meet the unlock rules, the classic world opens up from above.
Old World Flying makes gathering, revisiting old zones, and crossing long distances feel better once your character has earned access. The first part of the journey still belongs on the ground; the sky is something you unlock into and then use deliberately.
Follow this flow
- 1
Reach the level and training requirements shown by the realm’s Old World Flying unlock or trainer.
- 2
Learn the appropriate flying skill and obtain a compatible flying mount before planning an aerial route.
- 3
Test the mount in a safe open area, then return to classic zones for gathering, quests, exploration, and faster travel.
- 4
Use flight to connect objectives efficiently, but keep ground travel in mind where a zone, mount, or current progression still requires it.
- 5
Revisit older zones after unlocking flight: gathering loops, missed quests, rare spawns, and exploration achievements all benefit from the new access.
Good to know
- Old World Flying is an earned travel upgrade.
- It is especially useful for gathering, returning to old quest hubs, and revisiting zones that previously required long ground routes.
- The first part of the journey remains grounded so the unlock still feels like progression.
- If the mount will not launch, check the zone, mount type, training, and current character state before assuming the feature is unavailable.
